
Born July 9, 1933 in Stalingrad. In 1957 he graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute, then worked in the youth edition of the All-Union Central Radio and TV, as well as the Moscow Philharmonic. In 1964, Elem Klimov graduated from the directing department VGIK, where he was in the studio EL Dzigana. His first work was a short film 'The Bridegroom', filmed them in 1960. In 1964, the director began working on a film studio "Mosfilm" and that same year put the satirical comedy "Welcome, or No access for unauthorized 'where the role of the chief pioneer camp vividly manifested comedic talent Evgeny Evstigneev. In 1970, screens out artistic and journalistic tape 'Sport, Sport, Sport', combining newsreel and game material. This work Klimova was highly appreciated at many festivals sports films. In 1974, Elem Klimov put historical drama 'Agony' of Russia on the eve of the February Revolution, the role it performed leading Soviet actors, and the primary role of Grigory Rasputin, masterfully played by Alexei Petrenko. In 1981, after the tragic death in a car accident his wife, filmmaker Larisa Shepitko, Elem Klimov took of her documentary film 'Larissa' and put its ongoing film 'Farewell'. In 1985, a huge public outcry caused kinopovest 'Come and See "by Elem Klimov took off on the script, created by him in collaboration with writer Ales Adamovich. This film is about the Great Patriotic War in Moscow International Film Festival in 1985 won the Golden Prize. In the second half of 1980 Elem Klimov was the first secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR.
