film made in a hurry, three days before the shoot, the script was only a few lines long. "When I saw that it was Gaspar Noé, I really didn't want to say no," explains Béatrice Dalle.

Gaspar Noé is
back with a new project: Lux Æterna. A medium-length film concentrating all his
obsessions.
The film
follows Charlotte Gainsbourg and Béatrice Dalle in their own roles, the first
directing a film about witchcraft, with the second as the lead actress. They
prepare one of the main sequences of the project, a pyre scene, and after
discussing the sequence, filming begins. There, everything degenerates:
"the anarchic organization, technical problems and psychotic slippages
gradually plunge the shooting into a chaos of pure light", tease the
synopsis.
The trailer
just dropped and it illustrates this idea perfectly, with a short dialogue from
the duo followed by an epileptic montage of colors succeeding one another at a
breakneck pace as Dalle calls for help and screams.
Screened at
the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, in a midnight screening lasting 50 minutes, Lux
Æterna will be released in theaters on September 23.
